The core of the castle dates back to the XII century, while the whole complex has been renovasted and enlarged during the XIX century as a residence of King Charles Albert of Sardinia.

In the garden area of the Agenzia there is a commemorative monument, know as the torrione. Results of the excavations in the north area showed a portion of the decumanus and a circular structure with a canal system embed into the walls, while remains of dwellings were found.
